ABOUT THE HOUSE: The Super Bluebird House A good bluebird box should be easy to monitor, easy to clean, and provide a safe nesting site. It should be more than just a cavity for a bird to build a nest in. This one has it all. APPROVED BY THE NORTH AMERICAN BLUEBIRD SOCIETY. It is very easy to monitor the side has a hinged door with a viewing window to prevent nestlings from falling out. When it is time to clean the nest the viewing window slides out to provide full access to the box. The copper portal around the entrance maintains the 1 ½” entry. Predators will not be able to chew the entrance to make it larger. There is plenty of ventilation just under the roof line and drainage holes on the bottom to keep the nest dry. Easy to assemble. House is already attached to pole but can be re positioned by loosening the screws and sliding up or down the the pole. No hole drilling or screwing through wood needed. Sections slide together easily and the ground pole is solid steel, not tubular, so it can be pounded in easily. The directions could be better, I couldn't determine what the little plastic tabs on each section end were for so I pulled them off and now think one end of each tab was supposed to be put inside each pole section to keep the whole assembly from spinning or turning around in the wind. The house is well constructed with a vent and one side opens to clean out the nest in the fall. Already have a nest in there but I think sparrows, not bluebirds, discovered it first. More expensive than other bird house packages but If you aren't a do-it-youselfer this is a good bird house package considering the quality and ease of putting it up.
